BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - JANUARY 29th - FEBRUARY 2nd

Saanichton, B.C. - It's another week of BCEHL hockey featuring key matchups between top teams in the U17 and U18 leagues! Let's check out what's going on in the BCEHL. 

 

 

Female U18 AAA

The Female U18 league is not in action this weekend as they have a league-wide bye. There are three teams participating in tournaments this weekend. 

 

Northern Capitals - Female World Sport School Challenge - Winnipeg, Manitoba

 

Greater Vancouver Comets and Thompson-Okanagan Lakers - RINK Hockey Academy Winter Classic - Female U19 Prep Tournament - Vernon, B.C.

 

 

 

 

U18 AAA

A couple of key matchups are set for this weekend, with major implications on the top of the league standings. Trailing first-place by only a point, the third-place Okanagan Rockets (19-9-1-1) will look to overtake the top spot from the league-leading Cariboo Cougars (19-6-2-1) when they take the ice in Prince George. The Valley West Giants (20-8-0-1), who are tied with the Cougars for first-place, will look to stay at the top of the standings when they take on the fourth-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (16-12-1-1).

U17 AAA

It’s a big weekend for the U17 league that features a pair of matchups between teams that are tightly contested in the standings. The second-place Vancouver North West Hawks (20-8-1-1) will look to hold off the third-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (19-9-0-1) when they square off in a home-and-home series. With only one point of separation in the standings, the fourth-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (17-9-2-1) and fifth-place Valley West Giants (17-10-1-1) take the ice with valuable points up for grabs.

U15 AAA

There are seven teams in action this weekend in the U15 league. The third-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (11-11-3-0) will look to keep their success going against the fifth-place Vancouver North West Hawks, who they’ve beat in three of four meetings this season. The sixth-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (9-10-1-1) will look to gain ground on the fourth-place Cariboo Cougars (11-9-1-1) and climb the U15 standings. The Chiefs have won two of three meetings against the Cougars this season.
