BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - JANUARY 9th-12th

Saanichton, B.C. - All leagues in the BCEHL are back in action with matchups between the first and second-place teams in the U18 Female and U15 league. Here's what's happening around the BCEHL.

 

Female U18 AAA

 

The Female U18 league is back in action after the holiday break. The league-leading Greater Vancouver Comets (21-2-1-0) will square off against the second-place Northern Capitals (9-8-0-1). The squads have met five times this season with the Comets claiming victories in each game. The third-place Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (6-8-2-3) will take on the fourth-place Fraser Valley Rush (5-9-1-1). The teams have played three times this season, each earning one win, with their most recent matchup ending in a 3-3 tie on November 10.

U18 AAA

 

All eight teams in the U18 league will hit the ice this weekend. Tied in third-place with identical records, the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (13-9-1-1) will battle the Okanagan Rockets (13-9-1-1) in Kelowna. The first-place Cariboo Cougars, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, will face off against the fifth-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (9-11-2-2) in Burnaby.

U17 AAA

 

There are eight teams in the U17 league taking to the ice this weekend. The league-leading Okanagan Rockets (21-3-0-0) will travel to Richmond to meet up with the eighth-place Greater Vancouver Canadians (7-14-2-1). Meanwhile, the second-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (16-6-0-1) will host seventh-place Thompson Blazers (9-16-1-0) in Abbotsford. The Thunderbirds have won both meetings against the Blazers when they met in November.

U15 AAA

 

The top two teams in the U15 league go head-to-head this weekend. The league-leading Okanagan Rockets (17-3-0-0) will travel to Prince George to play against the second-place Cariboo Cougars (11-6-1-0). The season series between Okanagan and Cariboo is tied one game apiece, as they split their winnings in October. With only three points separating them in the standings, the fourth-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (10-9-2-0) and the fifth-place Valley West Giants (8-10-0-3) will go toe-to-toe in Delta and Abbotsford.
